Harry Fisher Duthie (1885-1985)
Hartlepool man served with 14 and 21 DLI
Harry Fisher Duthie was born in Walton near Wakefield in 1885. By 1891 the family had moved to Seaton Carew.
In 1915, at the age of 30, he enlisted into the 21st (Reserve) Battalion Durham Light Infantry (DLI) to be with his brother, George William Duthie, who was serving in the 18th Battalion. Harry was allotted the number 21/463 and when he had finished his training he was posted to the 14th Battalion DLI in France.
After the war he moved to the south of England where he married in 1922. He lived in Hounslow where he died at the age of 100 in 1985.
