Report Inaccuracies

On the Italian Front, 1918.

Three DLI Privates and a Lance Corporal of the Northumberland Fusiliers.

In this photograph, the three DLI Private soldiers and the Lance Corporal from the Northumberland Fusiliers are all wearing tropical kit with their Regimental cap badges clearly seen on the left of their sun helmets. This was the British Army uniform worn on the Italian Front during the summer of 1918.

Though difficult to see, the cloth badges worn by the soldiers on their upper arms show that they were attached to the 69th Light Trench Mortar Battery. The four soldiers are also wearing battle patches on their upper arms. These suggest that the three DLI soldiers were from the 12th Battalion DLI, whilst the Lance Corporal was from either the 10th or 11th Battalions Northumberland Fusiliers.
