Thomas Henry Wilkinson (1889-1917)
Stockton man served with 1st/5th DLI commemorated on Arras Memorial
Thomas was born in 1889 in Stockton, the youngest child of George (a blacksmith) and Jane Wilkinson. In 1891 the family were living at 7 Vine Street, Stockton. George Wilkinson died later that year. In 1901 the widowed Jane (now working as a charwoman) and the four children were living at 49 Thorp Street, Stockton. In 1911 Thomas was a boiler maker in a shipyard and living with his sister, Ada, and brother-in-law, John Suthill, at 17 Wade Street, Stockton. Thomas enlisted at Stockton on Tees and was posted to France in October 1915. He was killed in action on 23 April 1917.
