William Tinkler (1896-1918)
Consett man served with 22th Durham Light Infantry
William Tinkler was born in 1896 at Consett, where he also enlisted with the 22nd Battalion Durham Light Infantry. When he registered as an Absentee Voter in 1918 he gave his home address as 27 Victoria Street, Consett.
Tinkler was killed in action on 26 April 1918 during the German offensive. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial on the Somme.
