Suspected spy in Seaton Carew
Schaarschmidt’s name appears on a list of suspected spies drawn up just befor the start of the war. On the 1911 census he is recorded as lodging at a house in Seaton Carew. His profession is stated to be “Draughtsman engineer” and that he works at the zinc works. Little else is know about him.
