Tyneside Irish Brigade Association

The Tyneside Irish Brigade Association has been set up to remember the men of 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th battalions of the Northumberland Fusiliers.  Over 5,000 men from the North East took up arms during World War One as part of the Tyneside Irish Brigade.

The aim of the Association is to ensure that those brave men and boys are not forgotten and that their story is made known as widely as possible.

The Association organise the world’s only Remembrance service by an Irish community for the British Army on St Patrick’s Day – every March 17th at 1pm in Eldon Square, Newcastle.  People gather from across the globe to remember and pay their respects.
