Military Cross awarded to Captain E. H. Veitch

Captain Ernest Hardinge Veitch, Durham Light Infantry, Durham, has been awarded the Military Cross for distinguished and gallant conduct in France. He was originally an officer in the Territorial Force, having transferred from the Territorial Artillery. He went out to France with the Durhams in April, 1915, and took part in the Second Battle of Ypres. He was subsequently mentioned in dispatches by General Haig, and has latterly been serving on the headquarters staff.
