Letters from Paul Salvator Riedelski-Piast to Robert Holmes Edleston of Gainford
The correspondence of a self-proclaimed Polish prince
Paul Salvator Riedelski-Piast befriended the Edlestons of Gainford some time in 1915.
He corresponded regularly with Robert Holmes Edleston and his sister Alice between 1915 and 1942, chiefly to solicit support for his political ambitions for an independent Poland. This correspondence is now preserved in the Edleston family papers (D/Ed 18/1) at Durham County Record Office.
We will be adding more transcripts of the correspondence to this site as soon as they are ready, and thank the numerous Durham at War volunteers who have helped to transcribe and translate these letters over many months.
