Fancy Dress Football Match


Transcript of report from Jarrow Express


On Wednesday evening a fancy dress football match took place on the Argyle Field, Hebburn. The teams represented HMS Theatrical Party and Palmers Munitionettes. The theatrical party were in fancy and grotesque costumes. The Munitionettes won by four goals to one. The scorers being Mary Lyons (2), Lizzie Gibson and Lizzie Green. “Charlie Chaplin” scored for the visitors. The game was brimful of fun, but football rules were not entirely ignored. The proceeds were in aid of the Hebburn Sewing Party Funds.
