War Memorial Park and Gardens
Type: War Memorial
This memorial garden, erected by colliery owners UA Ritson and Sons Ltd, was unveiled in 1920. There is a gate/archway through the centre of the back wall which has a granite cross over the top and there are alcoves with benches, underneath plaques dedicated to the war dead.
The plan and building notice for the memorial are preserved in Durham County Record Office.
