Stockton man served with 1st/5th DLI commemorated on Arras Memorial
Alexander was born in Stockton on Tees in 1897. He was the fifth child of William Henry (a steelworker) and Elizabeth Owen. In 1901 they were living at 3 Nicholson Street, Stockton but by 1911 had moved to 32 Teesdale Terrace, Thornaby where Alexander was a grocer’s errand boy.
He was killed in action 23 April 1917.
