Edward James Crawford was born in 1886. He was a hosiers’ porter. In 1907 he married Florence Amelia. By 1911 the family was living at 42 College Road, College Park, Kensal Rise, including their daughter Florence Louisa (Born 1909) and son William Alexandra (born 1910). By the time Edward James enlisted in August 1916, the family had moved to 122 Purvis Road, Kensal Rise, London.
Edward James joined the 15th Battalion DLI as Private 49870 and posted to France. He was killed on 10 April 1917 and is commemorated on Bay 8 of the Arras memorial. He was awarded the Victory medal for his services in the First World War.
