Stockton man served with 10th DLI commemorated on Arras Memorial
John Evans was born in Stockton-on-Tees in about 1884. He had a son, Thomas, who in 1917 is shown as living at 7 Saddler’s Square, Dunstan-on-Tyne, Gateshead. John enlisted at Stockton-on-Tees and served in the 10th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry. His service number was 25310.
John was killed in action on 8 May 1917, aged 33.
His name appears on the Arras Memorial and in the Durham Cathedral Book of Remembrance.
John was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
