Lorna Chittleburgh

Nursing sister with Voluntary Aid Detachment in Jarrow

It is unclear why Lorna Chittleburgh might have served the Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) so far from her home in Bedfordshire. Her Red Cross record card shows that she was a trained nurse and served full-time between March 1916 and May 1917.

She was awarded the Royal Red Cross Medal, Second Class for her service in Jarrow.
