John Hector Jackson (1899-1974)


Newcastle man served with DLI


John Hector Jackson was born in Heaton, Newcastle, where he was living in 1911 and 1917 when he enlisted.
He was part of the Training Reserve of Yorkshire Regiment and served with 15th and 1/9th DLI.

According to his army service record, John was injured while serving in France. He appears to have suffered a shrapnel wound to his left knee on 26 August 1918 and was treated at 12th General Hospital.

In 1919 he was transferred to Class Z Reserve.

This photograph is marked on the back with his name.
