Funeral of Mr. S. Whisker

Report of the funeral of Samuel Whisker

Funeral of Mr. S. Whisker

The death of Mr. Samuel Whisker, aged 37, occurred suddenly after only twelve hours’ illness. Mr. Whisker had been badly wounded in the war, and a piece of shrapnel was lodged in his head, which brought on the sudden illness. He had lived in Stanley all his life, excepting the war period. Mr. Whisker was a member of the British Legion, and also of the Shamrock Lodge of the R.A.O.B.

The internment took place on Thursday, at St. Andrew’s Church. The Rev. A.H.P. Squance officiated, and Mr. Batman attended at the organ. Members of the British Legion acted as under bearers and bidders, and the Durham Light Infantry was represented.
