Discussions in County Durham


During the First World War there were discussions in the County as to whether boys aged 13-14 should be allowed to leave school, particularly because of shortage of manpower for the mining industry. Mel Brown has looked at County Council records and the local newspapers in order to put together a summary of the “Boy Labour” question.
