Photograph of 2nd Battalion Durham Light Infantry on manoeuvres


Taken at Royston, 1912


This photograph taken in 1912 during the manoeuvres of the 2nd Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry in Royston, was posted to Mr & Mrs Heaney (1 Grandy Court, Bow Bridge, Bow, London) by their son Joe. He was Private Joseph Heaney, numbered 10554 and he was posted to the 1st D.L.I. in India before war broke out.

In the photograph, to the right of the pile of rifles, on the ground, there is a valise which bears the number 10668 and the name Ibbitson, of Corporal Alfred Ibbitson.
