Type: War Memorial
Memorial statue of an infantryman at the junction of Wharton Street and Church Street. Soldier stands on a squared plinth atop a pedestal with rounded edges and a step. Originally unveiled in 1921, the soldier statue was removed in the 1960’s due to damage caused by vandalism. The statue was stored in a stonemasons yard until it was restored and eventually replaced on top of the memorial in 2007.

John Löwe MM. I will be in Coundon Club on the 3rd December 2017 with various artefacts pertaining to the life of John. My great, great Uncle. The hundredth anniversary of his death at Cambrai.
