Horden Miner’s Hall opened in 1914 on the western side of Seventh Street and was used as a welfare centre for miners until the Horden Colliery closed in 1986. The hall then became the Social Welfare Centre managed by Horden Parish Council and remains as such to the present day. The building contains a war memorial dedicated to the 165 men of Horden who were killed in the First World War.
