Rose Hill Prisoner of War Camp, Eastgate
Working camp
Type: Prisoner of War Camp
Remains of a group of three buildings. The remains here could potentially be part of a First World War prisoner of war camp that is documented as being established at Eastgate. One building may represent the bathing/heating/cooking system of such an installation.
The Prisoners of War Information Bureau’s list of places of internment, published in 1919 (reprinted by the Imperial War Museum), lists Eastgate, Rosehill Farm, as a working camp under Catterick.
