Leonard Percy Adams (1899-1918)
Staffordshire man wounded while serving with 2nd DLI buried in Cologne
Leonard Percy Adams, the son of Benjamin and Mary Ann Adams, was born in Wednesbury, Staffordshire early in 1899. He had four brothers and two sisters. He lived in Wednesbury all his life until he was called up on 15 February 1917 and joined the 86th Training Reserve Battalion. On 1 November he was posted to the 52nd Graduated Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and landed in France on 16 January 1918, when he was transferred to the 2nd Battalion. He was wounded in the Second Battle of the Somme in March and died of his wounds on 13 April 1918.
