Reginald George Avery (1881-1915)
Horse-keeper from West Stanley buried north of Ypres Prison
Reginald George Avery was originally born in Rothbury but moved to west Stanley with his wife, Mary E. Avery. He had 2 children resident in Stanley when he enlisted for the war on the 7th September, 1914. He was then accepted into the war a day later then died as a private when he was approximately 33 years of age. His grave is in Ypres Reservoir Cemetery.
He lived with his two sisters and father. Unfortunately, his mother died with no cause stated. However, due to evidence we have found, we believe that Reginald George Avery’s mother could’ve died giving birth to him as he was the youngest and there is little information about his mother. His sisters are called Charlotte and Eliza and his father was called William A. Avery.
