Frederick Thomas Moore (1881-1917)
From Kent, served in 1st/5th Battalion DLI, killed in action at Arras
Frederick Thomas Moore, the son of John & Sarah Moore, was born in the summer of 1881 in Flimwell, Ticehurst, on the East Sussex/ Kent border. He had three brothers and three sisters and some time between 1901 and 1911 the family moved to Hadlow, near Tonbridge in Kent. On 11 November 1905 he married Elizabeth Pope in Hadlow and they had three children.
Frederick Moore joined the 1st/5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry at Maidstone on 16 July 1916 and was killed during the Battle of Arras on 23 April 1917. He is commemorated on the Arras and Hadlow Memorials and in the Durham Cathedral Book of Remembrance.
