William John Mitchinson (1898-1917)


From Sunderland, served with 15th Battalion DLI, killed at Arras


William John Mitchinson, the son of William John & Mary Elizabeth Mitchinson, was born in Sunderland on 7 April 1898. He lived in the town all his life. William had one brother and three sisters. He served in the 15th Battalion Durham Light Infantry and was killed on 10 April 1917 during the Battle of Arras. Private Mitchinson is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, and in the Durham Cathedral and Sunderland Holy Trinity Church Books of Remembrance.
