Albert Joseph Little (1890-1917)


From Hendon, served with 1st/6th Battalion DLI


Albert Little was born in Hendon, Sunderland to Alexander and Susannah Little. He had seven siblings. Albert lived in Sunderland his whole life, working first as a bricklayer, then as a baker.

In 1911, Albert married Elizabeth Liddle. They had four children, one of whom died when only a baby. They lived close to the docks on 48 Henry Street East.

Albert Little attested in May 1915 to join the Royal Army Service Corps. He attested again in December 1915, and was posted to the 1st/6th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry (DLI). Albert was marked as missing in April 1917, later confirmed dead, leaving Elizabeth to care for their three sons.
