Thomas William Lynn (1882-1917)

Thomas Lynn was born to Thomas and Mary Ann Lynn (nee Currey) in Dipton in 1882. The 1901 census shows him living with his family in Chester-le-Street, Durham.
Thomas Lynn enlisted in Newcastle and joined the 1st/5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry (DLI). The battalion fought at the Battle of Arras in April 1917, and on the 23 April Private Thomas Lynn, aged 35, went missing. His body was never recovered from the battlefield but his name is recorded on the Arras Memorial in France.
