John Ridd Huxtable (1896-1972)
Devon farmer served with 19th DLI as second lieutenant
According to his service record, John Ridd Huxtable enlisted with the Inns of Court Officer Training Corps on 20 December 1916. He was then assigned to 20th Officer Cadet Battalion in May 1917.
The London Gazette recorded his receiving a commission as temporary second lieutenant on 26 September 1917. He seems to have been posted to 14th Battalion Durham Light Infantry (DLI) on 28 February 1918 and then to 19th DLI in June of the same year.
He relinquished his commission on completion of service on 1 September 1921 but retained rank of second lieutenant.
