Robert Weatherall (1891-1957)


From West Hartlepool, served with 18th Battalion DLI (Durham Pals).


Robert Weatherall was born and lived in West Hartlepool.

As private, on 1st of July 1916 he was sent to the front line with D Company 18th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, which suffered a large number of casualties that day.

However, Robert survived and was attached to the 11th East Lancashire Regiment (the Accrington Pals). He was then transferred to the West Yorkshire Regiment where he was re-numbered 43643, and served with 1/6th and 15/17th Battalions before being re-posted to 18th DLI.

He survived the war and was transferred to Class Z Reserve on the 19th of March 1919.
