Mary Cecilia Pease (1892 - 1975)

Mary Cecilia Pease was born in Hurworth, Darlington on 12/12/1892. Her father was Edward Lloyd Pease and her mother was Helen Blanche Pease.
On joining the Friends Ambulance Unit, she gave her address as Hurworth Moor, Darlington. She stated she was a member of the Society of Friends, and under qualifications, said she had done 3 months V.A.D. experience on a surgical ward.
She arrived in Dunkirk on 18/1/1916 and was a V.A.D. at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Malo-les-Bains, Dunkirk.
Her Friends Ambulance Unit personnel record card shows that she left the unit on 14/3/1918 but has a period from 2/11/1918 to 31/12/1918 where she returned to France and was again a V.A.D. at the Queen Alexandra Hospital.
She was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal under her membership of the Voluntary Aid Detachment, sub-unit the British Red Cross Society and the Order of St John of Jerusalem.
