Cyril Pinder
Served at the South Shields Seaplane Base
Cyril Pinder appears to have been something of a self-made man. On the 1911 census he is a schoolboy to a widowed mother in Hull, who took in a lodger. In the late-1940s and early-1950s he made a number of voyages to New York on baord the Queen Elizabeth. On the passenger list his occupation is recorded as accountant. While on the South Shields Seaplane Base he was diagnosed with scoliosis of the spine and was invalided out of the Navy.
