Frederick Tremain
Served at South Shields Seaplane Base
Frederick Tremain had something of a shock at the Seaplane Base in South Shields. He reported to the navy surgeon with shortness of breath, chest pains and dizziness. Taylor ordered that he be given light duties and to stop smoking completely. It seems unlikely that he followed the doctor’s advice as he died, aged 50, in a hospital in his native Middlesex. Ellen, who he had married shortly after the war ended, was left to administer his estate of £2260, according to the Probate Calendars.
