Cornforth History

Location: Cornforth

Type: Community and volunteer project

For more than two decades Andy Denholm has been researching service personnel from West Cornforth who served during the First World War and the Second World War.

Andy is also researching Tursdale, as Tursdale War Memorial is within the parish of Cornforth. Andy has expanded his research to include those service personnel from East Howle and Metal Bridge. During this research Andy has also traced the family trees of some of these service personnel

Andy would welcome contact from anybody who has information about anyone who might have served when living in the these localities during World War One and World War Two. Andy would especially welcome contact from anyone who knows the history of any of the men named on the Cornforth or Tursdale War Memorial, in particular those with “common” surnames, such as Smith.
