This photograph was posted at Army Post Office 10 on 6 September 1913. The recipient was “Cpl C. Friend” from “C.”
The message reads: “Band 2nd DLI on Manoeuvres. You’re down for 17/- this week. Yrs to hand for which many thanks. We are having a fairly easy time now. We go to Watford on Thursday and I believe stop there the weekend. We have been doing plenty of massed bands playing out here. Get me a girl ready in Litchfield for when we arrive. Hoping you are having an easy time yrs etc C.”

“Cpl C. Friend” was 9173 Corporal Charles A Friend, who was a prisoner of war during the First World War.
