Durham Railway Station 3/9/1914, Men from the Durham area leave to join the Green Howards at Richmond. This is recorded in the Durham Chronicle.
Identified on the photograph are

1, 13093 Pte Walter Sheen 8th Green Howards,
2. 13089 Pte Paddy Burke from Milburngate, 10th Green Howards.
3. 13101 Pte Harry Inglis from Sidegate, 8th Green Howards, Killed in Action 10/7/1916 at the Capture of Contalmaison.

Harry and Walter were on the same Lewis Gun team and when Walter returned home in 1917 he gave Harry’s mother a Green Howards Cap Badge and told her that was all that was picked up from where Harry had been. Harry Ingliss has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing.
