Unveiling of Thomas Kenny VC commemorative paving stone

The first of seven paving stones commemorating County Durham’s First World War Victoria Cross recipients will be unveiled on Wednesday 4 November 2015.

When: assemble at 10.30am for service of dedication from 11.00 to 11.40am.

There is restricted parking close to the cemetery so please allow extra time to park safely.

Wheatley Hill Heritage Centre, just inside the cemetery gates, will be open to visitors from 10.00am (refreshments available).

 

 

 

This commemorative stone was presented by the Department for Communities and Local Government as part of the First World War Centenary commemorations.

The Heritage Lottery Fund is supporting the installation of the stone, in partnership with Durham County Council, East Durham Area Action Partnership and Wheatley Hill Parish Council.
